There's a new quilt shop in town and it's a must for quilters visiting Bend. QuiltWorks was started just last month by my friend, Marilyn Ulrich (also our guild president!). She was the one who quilted my 6 Collaborative Chicks quilts. In the midst of doing that she announced that she was starting a new quilt shop. So, for now, she's not doing the long arm quilting because she's very, very busy as you can imagine.
This new shop is light, bright and very welcoming. She has a wonderful array of fabric styles from contemporary to civil war reproductions. She also has a lot of interesting books.
The best part though is the incredible quilts hanging from the upper balcony and the rafters!
I was there this morning to help sell tickets for our guild's raffle quilt. I completely forgot to go upstairs to get more photos. If you do visit be sure to head up the stairs to see a mini quilt show. Every couple of months the gallery will change out with quilts by various local quilters and groups. Right now there are many of Marilyn's quilts as well as a group of challenge quilts. And, I just noticed that I got a glimpse of Marilyn in the photo above. As you can see she's always smiling and loves to talk! I think this new endeavor is a perfect fit!
