So little time! I have been feeling especially scattered since we got home from the trip. I have about 3 dozen projects of all sorts that I'd like to get finished, but each one takes so much longer than I think it will. I can't believe we only have 2 months before holiday gift giving time (if you need to mail things!). So here's what I've been doing lately. And, I don't know what's up with starting new projects, but I did that this week even with all the old stuff staring me in the face.
I'm finally getting a handle on this sweater I started for Chloe last winter. Last time we saw this it looked like this (scroll down), now I'm nearing the neck, yay! This has been one crazy sweater from start to finish. I started out with 4 balls of ecru left over from my Knitting Olympics sweater. I bought 4 balls each of the two colors. Then I slowly started knitting. Every now and then I'd get it out, but lose interest quickly. Too much boring stockinette.
Well, a couple of weeks ago I realized that Chloe is only getting bigger and if I want her to be able to wear this at all, I'd better get going. I found out I needed more ecru and that the colors wouldn't hold out for stripes on the top. Luckily she liked this change to the all ecru at the top. I'm using the Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns for the raglan, but I'm adding a placket neck like this one that I just finished. I'll be glad when it's done!
I've also made progress on this French Market Bag. I'm doing the 4 handle parts, so it should be done in the next week. This one has also been hanging around for a long time. I'll be glad to finish this one too!
Then here's what I started when I really shouldn't have. I have wanted new living room pillow cases for a long time and this week I guess I couldn't stand it any longer. I saw this pattern in Fat Quarters are Beautiful (can't find a link right now). I rifled through the stash and came up with three colorways of Kaffe Fassett prints, stripes and solids (plus some others). I love this, but silly me, I forgot to check the size of the pillow forms I already have. They are 16" and this pillow top is 12". I went Joann's to get a 12" pillow form and they didn't have a single one. So, I think I'm going to cleverly develop a solution to turn this into 16" and call it a day. Stay tuned for that one!
Lastly, I pulled this out of the cupboard the other day and really wondering if I'll ever have the time to finish the quilting before it's Christmas time. We'll see. I seem to have an embarassing habit of starting holiday projects during the season they are due, not having time and then putting them off for the next year.
Not only that, but this quilt needs some serious attention too!
