The Red Hot Sizzling Socks have begun. This pattern is Embossed Leaves from the Winter issue of Interweave Knits. It's a really pretty pattern that looks like it will be pretty straightforward to do. I have just started the design of the first sock. This is red Koigu that is a dream to knit with. I mistakenly called the cast on a tubular cast on in a previous post. It actually calls for a special k1 p1 long tail cast on. I had to frog the first cuff I did as it was too tight for my leg. Then I tried a picot edge, which was really pretty, but too loose. Rather than try to work the picot edge to fit me I just did my normal long tail cast on with the twisted rib on the cuff. I think it will fit fine, but I haven't tried it yet. The twisted rib looks really nice on the cuff because it's so much more even than the usual k1 p1 rib that I've done. Anyway, I hope there will be no more frogging because I'm going to try to finish these for the February 12th deadline to get in a drawing at the RHSS site. If not, I have until July 1st to finish them for the final drawing.
This could be difficult as I have yet to finish a pair of socks in a week and the Knitting Olympics starts on the 10th. My first choice for the KO will not happen because my yarn for Rogue has been back ordered. I do have yarn for another sweater that I might try. I've got to get swatching for that. Meanwhile, I'm also really taken with the Odessa hat that Grumperina designed and I'd like to try one with some Baby Cashmerino leftovers I have. That will probably have to wait a few weeks. Finally, for Sandy who is having her 3 year blogiversary I have a sky photo taken from my back yard this evening.
