There has lots of blog talk lately about kids going back to school and the relief the parents feel. Here it's quite different. I'm thrilled to have my kids home. We are continuing our days just as we did in the summer. It's been fun and today we went to the park for 3 hours. It was a gorgeous day with warm sunshine, but a hint of the fall weather to come. Ryan played with the little kids still too young to be in school all day. Chloe read some Calvin & Hobbes and played a game (Walk the Dogs) with me. We went out for icecream at Ben & Jerry's and took the pup to the dog park. Unfortunately, no dogs were there to play with. I love having the freedom to do whatever we want, whenever we want.
There is knitting news and knitting photos! I finally got the fringe on a little blanket I made a while ago. I wanted to test out a pattern in the Simply Noro book I had called Cavendish. It's a pretty simple blanket pattern of alternating squares of stockinette stitch and garter stitch. Anyway, I had one skein of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted in the color Child's Play. This yarn had been around a long time and had gotten moth eaten (yuck- I have since gotten rid of all moth traces, but that was not fun). Anyway, it had lots of breaks in the yarn, so I had lots of yarn ends on the side. It made a blanket about 17" x 25" and I decided it was only good for one thing- a dolly blanket for my neice. It is finally her birthday coming up so I got some pink Lamb's Pride worsted to finish the fringe (so I didn't have to weave in all those ends- very clever of me!) and she will be getting it in a few days. She was born on 9-11-01 in Washington DC. I can't imagine going through that terror and delivering a baby the same day. Anyway, this is for Katya!
