Time for a close up

20071119330

My Bootiful Booquet was indeed done just in time for Halloween.  I took the Halloween photo just minutes after finishing the binding and just as the sun was going down.  The astute among you may notice a difference between that photo and this one.

I was thinking as I quilted the web that I needed a spider in there and left a spot for it, but I just didn't have time to get it on there for Halloween.  I got the spider finished last night and put on a label, so it's really done except for a sleeve.  Since I'm a procrastinator, that will probably have to wait until next Halloween!

The spider web is such a fun way to finish the background.  Thanks to Tonya for the idea.

On the border I did a simple zigzag to echo the edges of the appliqued dog tooth border.  I didn't bother to try to quilt on the dog tooth, due to the extra thickness of the fabric.

Oh, and here's the back.  I ended up piecing it with some of the leftover 10" squares from the Halloween pack this quilt is based on.  These were my least favorite of the ones in there, so I'm glad they are used up, but not having to be seen all the time!

PS.  I'm going to give NaBloPoMo a try.  It's the least I can do when Chloe's already over 9,000 words into NaNoWriMo!

Happy Halloween!

Getting there!

20071019175

Yesterday I made good progress on My Bootiful Booquet.  I have found that hand quilting with numb fingertips is different and a little uncomfortable, but it's possible.  I am hoping to finish the quilt tomorrow, but in the meantime, here's a little preview.

I also added a green stripe to the ripple blanket.  I just had to take a photo of this basket.  I have two of these now and just love them.  They are made by a basket maker in OR who comes to the craft faires in Sisters.  I have plans on buying an even bigger one the next time I see her!

I also finished one sleeve and got a little bit farther on the other sleeve of Rogue during the baseball game last night.  Last night's game was a little more nerve wracking than the others, but it was a nice finish and we enjoyed it.  Chloe and Ryan learned a lot about baseball over the past couple of weeks (actually, I did too!).  Yay for the Red Sox.

Chloe and I made these candles today.   We're all ready for her Halloween night sleepover.  I hope your Halloween is fantastic where ever you are!

Ready to Quilt

20071018755

My Bootiful Booquet is ready to be basted and start the quilting.  I had a couple of things to finish up with it, including these adorable little leaf ghosts and the Jack-o-Lantern face.

Meanwhile, this is what Scrabble was doing while I sewed.  He's wearing the Penny Sweater I made for him a couple of years ago.
