Bulb Corner

I couldn't resist these beauties while shopping the other day.  Tulips are my favorite cut flower and these are gorgeous!  As long as it looks like winter is a no-show, we might as well move on to spring.

On the knitting front I thought I'd better show these two scarves before I forget.  I made the blue one for Chloe's birthday and Ryan got the red one for Valentine's Day.  He was so happy so have such a soft and warm scarf!

I started Rogue last week, but was bogged down with the hem facing.  I switched to a bigger needle size and changed to doing a rib stitch and it went much better.  I really love knitting with this yarn.  It's Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed, color enamel.  When I ordered this I didn't realize the blue was so dark.  It's a little too dark for me as far as ease of knitting, but I'm making sure to do it with plenty of light.  If I use this yarn again (and I do love it so far), I would really like to try the color Russett.

Campfire candy sales are over and I will have some free time this weekend to hopefully catch up on several projects.  I've got tons of UFO's- knits, quilts and papercrafted items.  I really want to catch up on the baby quilts and get started quilting the ones for the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show in July.

I've signed up for a class for the first time during Quilt Show week so I'm pretty excited about that.  I have also registered two quilts for the show, but neither has been quilted!  One I plan to send out for machine quilting, but the other one is going to be hand quilted so I better get going.

Also, I have a blue and yellow challenge quilt for my guild that needs to be done by early August.  Here's a preview of the center of it.  I have several ideas for this wall hanging and I really like how it's shaping up.  I will show how I came up with this design and planned it in a coming post.

Happy 2007!

Grandfather Frost and Snowflake wish you a very Happy New Year!

PS- I wish I could say I made these, but they are from Magic Cabin Dolls, I believe.  We've had them for many years.

X is for...

Xmas Corners!  Enjoy these photos of our favorite Christmas Corners of My Home.  Many of these items are handmade by me, my family or other handcrafters.  These, of course, are the most precious ones.  Merry Christmas!

More fall color...

Chloe and Ryan made these beautiful bookmarks for me yesterday (I collect them, though usually they are the free ones you get at bookstores).  These are made with clear packing tape.  We go the idea from Knitting Iris.

This is one of the scarecrows Chloe made.  I'll have to get a photo of the girl she made tomorrow.

Finally, my dahlias were eaten by deer and what wasn't eaten was killed by the frost, so here are some that I picked up at the farmer's market yesterday.  I love these flowers!

Signs of Fall

Notwithstanding the incredible Indian Summer which is continuing (86 degrees today!), fall has appeared in the last week or so around here.  Chloe got so excited about Halloween, she couldn't help herself.  All photos are clickable.

This photo of the kids was taken when Chloe was about 4 and Ryan 3.  So cute!

This is one of Chloe's dollhouses, which comes out just for holiday decorating.  There's a witch on the chimney.

My first corner

I think the Corners of my home theme that SouleMama started is a great idea.  Here's the first photo, more will come sporadically over the next year.  I like this spot because it's the first thing you see when you come in from the garage, where I always park my car.  It's not in a place where visitors are likely to see it, so it's just for us!  This is our collection of scarves, but I'm sure there are others scattered about the house.  Chloe and I made all of them, except for a couple made by Mark's mom and the blue and tan striped one.  I also made the little needlepoint picture a few years ago.

Project Spectrum photos to come and I need an E photo!  I can't think of anything for E, so I better start brainstorming!  I also have several knitted FO's to take photos of, so expect those photos in the next week or so.
